Hi, I’m Deepthi and I am the face behind The Green Bakery. I am a certified pastry chef and in 2015, I traded my 10-year corporate position to pursue my love for baking from my home kitchen in India. I wanted to ensure all my loved ones could share in great tasting goodness.

Arriving in Australia and settling in Sydney’s north shore in 2017, I was touched by how the community included my family and I knew I wanted to give back. Starting The Green Bakery, I envisioned offering delicious food that best accommodates everyone in our capacious community.

For 6 years, we have proudly served the community regardless of allergies and dietary requirements from my home-based bakery. Our mission remains unchanged but in 2022, The Green Bakery outgrew my humble kitchen and expanded into a Bakery in Artarmon, where we have a range of cupcakes and desserts on display. Our offerings have also grown and we also do High tea, cater for parties and events onsite.

If you drop by The Green Bakery*, you might catch me and the team mid-performance in the kitchen where I continue to love to sing (and is usually coupled with some dancing).

The journey of The Green Bakery

Arriving in Sydney from India, admittedly, I did not have much exposure nor an appreciation for dietary restrictions. You could imagine my shock when my sons started attending birthday parties of their friends. I would frequently hear parents bringing their child’s own dietary-specific food for gatherings. It broke my heart to watch children not being able to share in the main birthday cake.

With a philosophy of inclusion, I wanted to respect the diversity of our community, including dietary restrictions – I didn’t want anyone to ‘pay the price’ for their dietary needs. I wanted to offer parents the peace of mind that their own child and/or their guests could all be included in the party. Moreover, I wanted to make beautiful creations that eliminated allergens without eliminating flavour, quality or taste.

Each of our cakes and deserts are certainly no overnight creation. After numerous rounds of trial and error, each creation packs in the flavours and looks just as good as their original versions. They are individually handmade from scratch and can be customised to suit ALL dietary requirements.

The Green Bakery has come a long way since 2017 and we have crafted treats that are free from common allergens such as nuts, dairy and soy. Our cakes can be made:
